The name literally translates to “by the mountain,” and it forms a beautiful natural and cultural ring framing the northern and eastern parts of the capital city, Zagreb.
In the 19th and 20th centuries, beneath the Medvednica hills, Prigorje villages shared a common heritage but celebrated their distinct differences. They expressed their unique village identities through subtle clothing variations, unique melodic ornaments and dance styles.

We're Dora and Luka. Folklore is how we met, befriended, grew up, and ultimately, how we ended up married.

Dora danced and played the violin. Luka played the tamburica — and eventually joined the dancers too. We travelled across Europe and beyond, met incredible people and discovered cultures we might never have encountered otherwise.
